ALPS and Solo Practice University form Strategic Partnership to Help Solos

Attorneys Liability Protection Society (ALPS) and Solo Practice University(R) have recently formed a strategic partnership to better serve the risk management and educational needs of solo and small/firm attorneys. ALPS, a carrier of lawyers’ professional liability insurance, currently offers a 10% credit for each attorney in a firm who has received 3 CLE credits in the areas of Ethics, Risk Management, Loss Prevention and/or Office Management. Through this partnership, ALPS is extending this credit to Solo Practice University students who become policyholders, while also providing additional free resources such as sample forms, practice pointers, as well as access to their risk management team for advice on sound firm management. Solo Practice University will likewise offer ALPS policyholders an opportunity to enroll with the online legal education provider at a reduced tuition. Enrollment takes only a few moments and courses can be accessed from anywhere with a modern browser and Internet connection.

“We are always seeking to find ways to better serve our solo and small firm insured attorneys, and the wider solo and small firm community with education, risk management services, articles, and other resources.” said Matt Lubaroff, ALPS Director of Client Services. “Several of us here on staff have been following the growth and progress of Solo Practice University since 2009 and have been impressed with its burgeoning community of students and nationally renowned faculty. Developing a partnership with SPU was something we'd been thinking about for a while and we're pleased that we could come together and make it happen."

Susan Cartier Liebel, Founder and CEO of Solo Practice University said, “During my first conversation with Matt Lubaroff, I could tell that ALPS is not your ordinary lawyers’ liability insurance company. They offer some of the best coverage for lawyers throughout the country, including cyber and EPLI. They produce their own cutting edge continuing legal education, have strategic plans for serving the ever-changing needs of lawyers, and reach their policyholders through strong social media engagement. After due consideration, we are happy to make ALPS our Solo Practice University endorsed LPLI carrier for our students and to extend discounted pricing to ALPS policyholders who enroll with SPU.”

Lubaroff remarks, “Our overall objective with this partnership is to help solo and small firm attorneys build a solid foundation for professional and financial success through education and sound risk management practices.”

Existing ALPS policyholders can access the special link for the discounted SPU tuition via the ALPS Account Center. Go to and enter your login and password credentials. For those interested in becoming an ALPS insured attorney, you can start an online application here.
